Bakesale Betty's
So I have always wanted to try this place and today is the day. It is an adorable little shop in the Temescal neighborhood in Oakland which is becoming one of my favorite neighborhoods. This is actually a neighborhood dating from the 1800's and has been getting a lot of attention over the past few years due to several great restaurants opening up on Telegraph. I was over there yesterday heading to Scout Hardware to look at home stuff. Ya know, curtains, rugs, mirrors, chainsaws the usual. This is a great little store as well, although my only complaint is that it doesn't have enough selection. It is a huge space, but feels a bit empty. If I can get in and out of a 1000 square foot store in less than 5 minutes it is not a good thing. Especially if the selection is as wonderful as the proprietors of Scout have chosen. I'm asking for more....please.
I digress
Ok, I walked past Bakesale Betty's and there were these adorable ironing boards outside with small black stools next to them. It was so clever. Old used ironing boards being used as bar tables outside. So smart. Who even irons anymore anyways (except for my friend Erin). They can have mine! I now want to set this up in my dream kitchen. Oh, yeah I also want to have a mocha and a pastry here as well while sitting on one of these benches.
